Description: 

I discovered this picturesque creek while exploring some back roads in West Virginia. It was very early in the morning in late summer, so the creek was quite cold as I waded in to stand on the rock!

I wanted to create a modern image with a nod to the Preraphaelite painters depicting a goddess-like woman in nature under the moonlight. This image was captured during the morning light and turned into night with a little painting and magic in Photoshop (NO AI) using an image I captured of the moon and stars on a previous evening.

Paint Creek is actually quite long and is a tributary of the Kanawha River and part of the Mississippi River watershed. It's over 42 miles long! I drove along it for many miles and the whole view along the drive was very pretty! The creek meanders through the woods and bubbles over many rock spills. Near the town of Pax, there is a little rest area with a bathroom and viewing platform to access the creek.
