Adolescent and teen girls face more challenges than ever before, but while statistics illustrate the need for action, we want to be a part of the solution. We believe connection, compassion, competence, mindfulness and gratitude lead to better confidence and self-esteem. We combine fun group activities with collaborative photoshoots, giving girls the ability to express themselves through creativity while learning healthy life skills. Let's work together to build a brighter future!

We originally started MUSEnation in 2014 as a high school senior modeling platform, but it quickly became something so much more. As we began working with teens, we learned about what they struggled with and the ways we could help. The teens in the program bonded and grew in ways we never expected. MUSEnation evolved into a creative photography and mentoring program. We had much success in creating opportunities that helped them build self confidence and learn skills to help them as they entered into adulthood. Participants worked with the State of AR board of Tourism, modeled for photography symposiums, participated in runway shows and much more. Many were published in magazines and in a book that is still sold on Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

Although MUSEnation was originally created for high school seniors, we had a few 14 year old girls apply and they stayed with us until graduation. We noticed the biggest growth and positive changes in those younger girls, so it got us thinking and researching. We found that girls ages 10-16 are at higher risk of developing anxiety, depression and other stress disorders than other age groups, according to multiple studies. Researchers found that some of the reasons for this are because many girls are entering into adolescence at an earlier age than before, yet their bodies and brains are not designed to handle the surging hormones at such an early age. The additional pressures of social media, peer pressure, political and environmental issues, together with less time being spent doing physical activities contributes to more stress and increased risk of mental disorders. Children are spending increased amounts of time alone online and less face to face time with family and friends. We want to give girls opportunities to participate in activities with other girls while having fun and learning healthy coping strategies for today's world. We hope to see these girls also become an inspiration to other girls.

We are keeping the group very small in order to promote a closer bond between the girls and to give them the best possible experience. There are only 14 spots available for this group so apply early!

What is MUSEnation?: MUSEnation is a program for girls ages 10-16. The program offers group activities to help build friendships, confidence, healthy coping mechanisms and more. It is photography based, with many opportunities to model for creative photo shoots. We have had multiple Muses published in national publications (We even contributed to a book. Take a look HERE) and do modeling work at national events (for those who are interested in modeling opportunities), but we also have many activities that are non- photography based.
Is there a cost to participate, and what's included?: Yes, we have two options: 1) Our Basics package is $500 and includes up to 1 1/2 hours and 6 high res digitals with printing rights plus 3 additional web size digitals.. 2) Our Ultimate package is $1290 and includes includes (2) 1 1/2 hour sessions and 25 high res digitals with printing rights plus 4 additional web sized digitals. We also do content creation collaborations (unpaid) with brands from time to time that we invite our past clients to participate in (as models). These opportunities include complimentary digital images and or video. Photos and print products from these sessions will be made available for purchase, but no purchase is required to participate.
Can my daughter participate in the program multiple times?: Yes, absolutely! We have found from experience that it is actually beneficial for them to do so. We welcome them for as many times as they want to apply, as long as they are still within the age requirement of 10-16 and pay the sign up fee.
Why are only girls allowed to participate?: Currently, we only allow girls in the program. The program is designed to promote friendship bonds between girls entering into adolescence. It can be an awkward time of self discovery and vulnerability, so we feel it is best for both genders to keep them separate. In the future, we do plan to have a program exclusively for boys.
How long do photoshoots typically last? What do we do about wardrobe?: Individual photoshoots typically last 1-2 hours, depending on the number of locations we use. Group photoshoots are 2-3 hours, but each individual receives about 15 minutes of camera time. Muses are not required to stay the entire time and may leave after being photographed if they choose.

You are welcome to supply wardrobe, and many parents do. We do have some studio gowns and fun funky accessories that are available for MUSEnation members to use. We will help with styling advice and planning for each photoshoot.
Can I get prints, albums, etc. from my daughters sessions?: Yes, absolutely! We offer a full line of heirloom quality print products, plus hi res digitals. You can see some of what we offer HERE. You will have multiple opportunities throughout the program to purchase art and keepsakes for your family. Some of these opportunities may involve us giving back to a local charity, so win win for everyone!
